Janke, Erica
As a youth player, Janke earned first team All-CIF Division II honors as a junior and second team honors as a senior. Janke was also named the Marmonte League Defensive MVP as a junior. Janke started her competitive youth career in Southern California and while playing in Orange County won a National title.
Janke was recruited by Cal State Fullerton and as a freshman, she was one of six Titans to appear in all 19 matches. As a Sophomore Janke appeared in all 20 matches, making 15 starts and started for a defense that set school records for fewest goals allowed, fewest shots allowed and most shutouts in a single season. In her junior year, Janke earned All-Big West Conference First-Team honors on defense. As a senior, Janke played for the Cal-South Women’s Soccer State Select Team that won the National Championship at the 2006 George F. Donnelly Cup in Tampa, FL. In 2006, Janke was also named the Big West Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, while being named to both the Soccer Buzz and Soccer America National Teams of the Week.
After college, Janke played for FC Gutersloh, part of the 2nd Bundesliga, in the Northern region of Germany, where she made history as the first American player to sign and play with the team.
In 2009 Erica was drafted by the Los Angeles Sol as the 5th pick of the 9th round. Janke currently plays for Ajax women’s team in the WPSL.
